1850 to present day

My grandfather, (pictured at the start) Edward Faux, was a colonel in the London Regiment in the 1st WW and he figures in the history of the 7th (City of London) Battalion, "The Shiny Seventh".

My father, Edward Roy Faux, farmed in Canada before the 1st WW and after his marriage in 1919 and again in the '30s.

Current research

  1. Robert and Elizabeth Faux lived at Newhouse Grange, Sheepy Magna, in the 18th century. John left to live at Sowe, Wks and married Margaret Wale. Robert died in 1754 but Elizabeth continued to live at the Grange until her death in 1790. Richard Faux inherited and his descendants lived there until 1900. I am trying to trace the line from there to the Faux family now living at Wigginton, near Tamworth.
  2. Elizabeth Grundy married Robert Faux in 1737; Elizabeth's brother Joseph married Robert's sister Alice. E & J were children of Joseph and Elizabeth Grundy of Harleston, near Tamworth. I should like to go further in this line.
  3. John Faux married Margaret Wale in 1767 at Sowe. Her parents were William and Elizabeth Wale. I cannot trace W & E's marriage and I cannot find Elizabeth's father John Garratt.
