Gratitude
Come Home, Come Home
Broken Wing
Through New Eyes
Our Intercessor
He'll Carry You Through
My Search for Peace
Filled With Gratitude
May I
What Love Can Do
The Windowsill
The Voice of God
A Sweetness to Taste
Why Write?
I Give to You
So Peace Returns
Remind Me
A New Song For Me
It Isn't Fair
Dream of Glory
Tongue of Man
What Will Our Future Bring?

Gratitude

I awoke today and listened
chirp of birds, locusts, sounds.
It's rich, a new day
a gift for me, abounds.

A home, a prayer, an answer
a place to lay our heads.
Large, with room to grow,
room for us and friends.

Friends, a prayer and answer,
to listen as we speak,
to hug, laugh, and share
to dry tears upon a cheek.

Come Home, Come Home

Oh, where are you now?
And where have you been?
Time to come home.
Yes, come home again.

Running with friends?
Or running away?
Finding yourself?
Or just out to play?

Now, how do you feel?
What was it worth?
The hearts that you broke?
The lives that you hurt?

Is there no rest
from guilt of sin?
Oh yes, there is help.
Just look to Him.

Close to Him you were.
You called Him by name.
He gave up His life
and you did the same.

He held tight to you
and you knew His touch,
but somehow began
to doubt of His love.

His hand you let go
and then walked away,
and you did not hear
the words He did say.

Now, now, my dear child,
please stay here with me.
I won't let you go
I love you, you see.

So, where are you now?
You've been gone too long.
"Come home, come home."
Remember the song?

He's waiting for you
with arms open wide,
forgiving you now.
Yes, He's on your side.

It matters none now,
where you have been.
Praise God you're home.
You've come home again.

Broken Wing

How hard for eyes to see
The bird with a broken wing
He struggles so to fly
And falls to earth again

He watches others soar
From his prison on the ground
And dreams of joining too
As he hears the distant sound

Oh Father, see the bird
He wants to freely fly
If you mend the broken wing
He'll join them in the sky

Through New Eyes

The saddest people you'll ever know
are those who cannot see
the gifts of life and love from God
bestowed on you and me.

They roam about with no idea -
by grace they walk and breathe
and only see the bleak and dark
through eyes of misery.

It takes a turn not easily made
to see through eyes brand new.
It must be done or life's too hard.
But this we all can do.

Begin again this gift of life
and leave old ways behind.
To see the world through grateful eyes
will heal your heart and mind.

*****Will you continue to be bitter and ungrateful
or begin to count the many blessings that come your
way? We can CHOOSE to do as the Psalmist says:
"Come and see what God has done, how awesome his work
in our behalf." Ps. 66:5 NIV

Our Intercessor

I wasn't sure what I should say
When I knelt on knees to pray

Then God in Spirit, again came through
He showed me what He would do

When it hurts too much to know
He'll be there for us to show

The scripture says in 8 Romans
The Spirit speaks in unknown groans

So when our need's too great to hold
The Spirit's here to lighten our load

The Father knows while here on earth
Some problems will too deeply hurt

Because He knows, He sent a dove
A gift for us, a sign of love

*******Mark 1:10 tells of the baptism of Christ:
"As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw
heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending
on him like a dove." NIV

This same spirit was given to us as a gift.
He is many things to us: Counselor, Comforter,
Strengthener, and Intercessor.

Romans 8:26 says, "...We do not know what we
ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes
for us with groans that words cannot express." NIV

He'll Carry You Through

The ring of a phone
Can rip worlds in two
Can pierce through your heart
Now what do you do?

"Your mother is ill
The doctors don't know"
Oh, where is your strength?
Oh, where did it go?

"Come home and come quick
Your son is in jail"
You can't help but think,
"Where did we fail?"

"We tried hard to save -
So sorry to say
If seatbelts were worn...
She'd be here today."

"Your Dad loved you so
And he thought you knew
His last words were, 'God...
Will carry you through'"

The list could go on
The concept's not new
When you need Him most
He'll carry you through

My Search for Peace

There is a hole in hearts of all
That runs inside down deep
It threatens so to grow e'en more
The climb out seems too steep

For me, I looked to fill it up
With things collected here
I saw my home so beautiful
And still it wasn't clear

So next, I looked at people
that gave me love and life
But even they gave not enough
That hole to satisfy

In mirrors then I searched
Did youth look back at me
Oh no, my hopes were dashed
How quick our youth does flee

Then school became my god
I wanted so to learn
And though it helped me some
Fulfillment still not earned

A "job well done" I knew
Might fill my empty heart
The joy still not enough
It was all just a start

Would fun or play be right?
Would they bring happiness?
I needed both, but no,
I still could find no rest

Those things above were gifts
For balance in my life
But God alone did bring
The peace I hoped to find

The hole was deep, so deep
I feared it would not fill
But God in love came through
My restless soul's now still

Filled With Gratitude

For suffering on a cross
I'm filled with gratitude
With love You took my sin
For that I'm changed within

For family given me
I'm filled with gratitude
I'm richer for each one
Husband, daughter, son

For each day given health
I'm filled with gratitude
I thank You on my knees
I walk, talk, and breathe

For many answered prayers
I'm filled with gratitude
The list goes ever on
I count from night to dawn

For roof above with warmth
I'm filled with gratitude
And work to bless my days
I lift to You my praise

For laughter and for tears
I'm filled with gratitude
Those healing heart and mind
I now feel whole inside

For freedom now I live
I'm filled with gratitude
Gifts so bountifully shown
I never could have known

NO words can e'er express
I'm filled with gratitude
But in my heart You'll see
The love I feel for Thee

May I

May I live my life, Lord
as if You'll come today
touching those around me
all along the way

May I stop to listen
when others need a friend
keeping tight their secrets
and they on me depend

May I think of others
and think much less of me
I'll not be the focus
It's You I hope they see

May my words be healing
to those who are in pain
Let my voice bring comfort
to a spirit drained

May I live my live, Lord
as if it's my last day
giving much more of myself
to friends You've sent my way

Father, forgive me when I fail
Thank You for Your patience

What Love Can Do

He loves us all in many ways
But one stands out to me
When we're weak and we can't stand
He reaches out His mighty hand

That hand, so strong, will heal a heart
In ways you'll never count
And healing comes surprisingly
It is there for you and me

It may be tears to wash the pain
Or laughter with a friend
A hug, a touch, from one who cares
A friend who keeps you in her prayers

His healing comes in other ways
Sometimes in solitude
Through quiet peace the Father sends
Amazingly our heart it mends

When you help someone in need
Who walks along your path
You'll both be blessed, know healing too
You'll thank God for what love can do

The Windowsill

Oh Lord I come to You today
With something very special to say
I look across the windowsill
There sits a bird so peacefully still

It seems as if he looks around
At your creation - how beauty abounds
And then a chirp and a whistle long
Appreciation of nature song

The trees so tall - each shape it's own
I wonder how long each has grown
The leaves, their hues, they number many
Time will come when there aren't any

The grass, the sun, and moon at night
The stars and dew - oh what a sight
If I could sleep on earth so green
I'd smell the flowers and soil clean

This masterpiece that You did make
A home, a gift, for all men's sake
With gratitude my heart does fill
Looking across that windowsill...

The Voice of God

The voice of God, what does it say?
Does it speak, or silent stay?
Do we go or do we stay?
Or is there hiding another way?

We wait for His signs to appear,
and pray for faith and not to fear.
We ask for guidance from above,
and ask for Him to show us love.

The path we take to us seems right,
then comes doubt all through the night.
We seek to please and hope to know
the will of God, which way to go.

Lord God in Heaven, we ask of you
to show us now what we must do.
The paths are many, your voice seems still.
Speak and guide us to Your will.

A Sweetness to Taste

You cry for lost dreams
for days goneby; you can't call them back
You breathe out a sigh.

You think about gifts
the talents given you; used not enough
Too sad; too true.

The night seems long
to dwell on the lost; this day is over
At too great a cost.

Life is a gift
too precious to waste; each moment's miracle
A sweetness to taste.

Lord, teach us to live
each day to be full; grateful, with love
Any less, too cruel.

Teach us to look
at life's beauty and love; not at what's wasted
But what's from above.

To live out each day
as rich and serene, 'twill bring to a life
the birth of new dreams.

Live is a gift
too precious to waste; each moment's miracle
A sweetness to taste.

Why Write?

You ask why I write
and how do I know?
Why do the words
so easily flow?

Do I think I know
or think I can see?
Do I seem to preach?
I pray, no, not me

I write what is burnt
through my mind and soul
The words that are there
sent my way to grow

I don't hear God's voice
speaking audibly
but that doesn't mean
He's not speaking to me

When I am writing
and looking way back
God shows how He loved
and kept me on track

He wants me to think
on gifts given me
and not on the pain
and loss that all see

He moves heart and hand
with plans to inspire
in all who do read
and mostly the writer

So often my pen
on paper does go
and why do the words
so easily flow?

I write because God
moves me from within
and means me to grow
from words that I pen

I Give to You

I give You all I am, Lord
Sometimes I wonder how
But knowing how You love me
I'll try to do this now

I give You all my worries
I give You all my fears
And if I learn to leave them
You'll spare me many tears

I give You my sweet children
They were mine for a while
Time has come for them to go
Please watch them ev'ry mile

I give to You my marriage
It's been blessed, this we know
Our union is Your will, Lord
Let it to thers show

I give You all my time, Lord
It's easy this to say
I want so much to please, but
My will gets in the way

I give you all my money
You've blessed me so I earn
It's often hard to let go
Yes, Lord, I need to learn

I give You all my talent
And inside there is more
Help me to define it
And open all the doors

I give you all I am, Lord
And all I'm going to be
If you need a vessel
Then let it, Lord, be me

So Peace Returns

When worry knocks
Our joy does steal
Our peace it takes
Against our will

Our spirit's low
And weighted down
Our face is lined
With each new frown

Turn thoughts to God
And blessings given
And fill your mind
With thoughts of heaven

Think of creation
A floral scent
And rainbows brought
To each storm's end

Remember prayers
On knees you cried
And answers came
In God's own time

Think now on love
To you was shown
Not just from God
But friends you've known

When worry knocks
Our peace it takes
Our will it bends
Our spirit breaks

Resist those thoughts
And pray they flee
So peace returns
and spirit's free

Remind Me

Remind me, oh God, of my salvation
When others doubt and deny
Remind me, oh God, of my transgressions
When Your Son bled and died

Remind me, oh God, of Your sweet mercy
When you see heart within
Remind me, oh God, how deep is your love
When You forgive ev'ry sin

Remind me, oh God, to look to the Son
When guilt weighs down on me
Remind me, oh God, not to look back
When I have been set free

A New Song

I have a new song
deep down in my heart.
It's a song about God
and the love he imparts.

How He came down to earth
to dwell among men,
to teach us and show us,
cleanse our lives full of sin.

He wants us to know
how to love and forgive,
how to share and to care,
an example to live.

For us to give love
as we have received
and to witness to others,
what a legacy to leave.

Now life with the Lord
will not be trouble-free
but the blessings and peace
are worth it, you'll see.

He promises grace,
sufficient for all,
assurance of heaven,
if on Jesus we call.

This heaven is home
for eternity
It's waiting for us
It's a gift; it is free.

It Isn't Fair

To fret and worry isn't wise
It gets us all nowhere
We want to know what makes us lose
We cry, "It isn't fair"

We look behind at efforts lost
at sacrifice and pain
We ask, "Dear Lord, why was it so?
Why was it such a strain?"

We asked for guidance from above
and listened with great care
But now since things aren't working out
We cry, "It isn't fair"

We pray again for paths to take
We ask, we don't demand
We need direction and your love
We need to understand

Help us now to look your way
To bear our own small cross
to dwell on peace and past success
Not failure, now, not loss

Help us keep our focus clear
Our goals, intentions pure
With You in mind and in our lives
We then will feel secure

Dream of Glory

We war inside, desire and lust
The fight is His - realize we must
He is Lord - our thoughts are His
Our will resigns - no longer is

We, children, taught to plan and dream
We, on our own, did plan and scheme
'Til quietly, we heard Him say,
"Your will, now Mine, it is My way."

A grander dream was then begun
A dream of glory for the Holy One
The Father's plan for all mankind
Was born that day, now in our mind

Tongue of Man

The tongue of man
What does it say
It stings and wounds
Or makes a day

The words you speak
Ever will be
In hearer's mind
You then will see

Do your words build
Or do they tear
To the point
Of no repair

Be careful now
Before you speak
If it won't build
Then silence keep

Time now to choose
To change your way
To use your tongue
Good things to say

The tongue of man
What good can do
Can heal a heart
And life renew

What Will Our Future Bring?

Sometimes God's timing is not as ours
We worry, hurry, and sigh
We scheme and dream to work it out
We often even cry

We plan life out from birth to end
We want to know all things
We question God, "What is your will
And what will our future bring"

He says, "My child, slow down, be still
Listen for my voice
It's all done, it's all in place
Accept it now, your choice"

"Leave your life in My big hands
I built a world with two
They'll care for you, and then protect
Believe it now, it's true"
