"Almost all of the Black Flag catalog was produced before the CD era. Nevertheless, SST released all of the LP's and singles on CD in their original length, and went back and put out the 7 inch singles as CD singles and the 7 inch singles as ten inch singles, and the 12" singles out as 10" singles, etc. Its goal seemed to be to have everything available on all formats at once, which makes a certain amount of sense, but at the same time, from a standpoint of utility, there are not a lot of people with turntables that can play ten inch records and not 12 inch ones. And the compilatons such as the First Four Years makes most of the singles obselete other than from a collector's standpoint. Colored vinyl was used for later reissues as opposed to first editions. in the meantime, other SST releases went out of print. Early editions of SST LP's were slightly larger non-glossy cardboard covers."
