MacLinks is proud and fortunate to
have Desoto Joe, the Record Man, as part of MacLinks Civil War Research
group. Desoto Joe has been an advocate for researchers of the Civil War. As MacLinks' Civil War Researcher and Reviewer for Recommended Civil
War Books he has created the following, Recommended Civil War Book list for the viewers and enthusiasts of the Civil War. The total is now 189 and continues to grow.
The Record Man continues collating, "The Online Civil War Reading Center" section. The present 76 on-line book references, link the viewer to university and personal collections making this part of Desoto Joe's Reference List a living history to this famous part of American History.
"Every book written about the Civil War is worth the effort to read." To this end Desoto Joe picks up new books (and old books) that deal with this subject while attending and promoting various reenactment events. You may even find him, when called upon, involved as a re-enactor in his travels around the United States.
Desoto Joe rates his reviews from *
To ***** [5* being better].
Along with his Reference Index and On-line Reading Center, Desoto Joe has begun a newsletter for those interested in re-enactors' activities. You will find his newsletter located at: ~ http://www.homepagez.com/maclizard/recnews.html.
You will notice as you glance through Desoto Joe's Reference Index, we have added other data and historic areas that may be of interest to the Civil War Researcher.
In case you missed the last Alert! we are repeating the message ~ "Submariners - Visit the Confederate Sub. H.L. Hunley ~ http://www.hunley.org/html/main_nav.htm ~ Read all about H.L. Hunley's history in our reading center at: ~ http://www.history.navy.mil/branches/org12-3.htm "
The index chart found below is our attempt to assist in making that decision as to whether you purchase or check out reference books from the library. Please bookmark this page as Desoto Joe is updating constantly.
