WHERE DO MSC VOLUNTEER MISSIONARIES SERVE?

  • Throughout Texas and the US
  • US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada, American Samoa
  • Many serve right at home (church, association, etc.)

Are MSC volunteer home missionaries counted as home missionaries? YES, when they have served for two years, they are added to the count of home missionaries. For many, this fulfills an earlier call from God for the volunteer to be a missionary. ONE in THREE home missionaries is a MSC volunteer missionary.

Can MSC volunteers work while they are serving? YES. These people are called TENTMAKERS. Either one or both of a couple can be employed and serve through the MSC Tentmaker program. All characteristics and qualifications are the same. It is the responsibility of the volunteer to obtain employment if moving to a new location, although the supervisor and other persons may assist.

HOW DO I BECOME A MSC VOLUNTEER MISSIONARY?

  • Contact the local MSC Consultant or MSC Office in Dallas. The telephone numbers are at the end of this page.
  • The consultant or MSC Office will send you an application and other information.
  • Fill out application with testimony and picture.
  • Application must be approved by church in business session. This tells the church what you will be doing.
  • Send application to consultant or MSC state office.
  • Attend a MSC Orientation. Interested persons can attend an orientation without submitting an application.

CAN THE MSC VOLUNTEER select his/her own ministry? YES!

1. Volunteers can select possible assignments from published "needs lists" and negotiate an assignment with the requesting supervisor.

2. The volunteer and supervisor must agree before any assignment can be made. This is essential to insure the fulfillment of God's will.

3. Many volunteers design/select their own ministry/assignment. They may have a particular interest in a special area. Positions can be developed to meet almost any valid ministry need. The volunteer should contact his/her MSC Consultant who will help work out the details on the assignment.

WHY SHOULD A PERSON serve through MSC?

  • Prayer support through the North American Mission Board and the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
  • Credibility. They are assigned by the North American Mission Board.
  • Progressive, attractive organization.
  • MSC orientation.
  • Be a home missionary.
  • Structure for ministry.
