Cup of Cold Water
The
Cup of Cold Water booth at the fair is from September 18th through
the 25th. This is a great way of taking the Gospel out where the
people are. The AABA rents the space, and the tent (donations are always
needed). The tent is staffed with MSC volunteers that help coordinate the
churches, keep the booth supplied with water, provide sound equipment, and get
the churches in and out of the gates.
Activities
your church can do include (but not limited to) music, puppets (we provide a
stage, music and puppets), drama, worship services, face painting, balloon
tying, and/or pass out tracts or personal testimonies. With all this you give
out a free cup of cold water and a smile.

Joe Wall (a MSC missionary) has been serving as our interim camp director. He
has brought with him many new ideas. He and Suzy have worked hard through out
the summer promoting camp participation, repairing facilities and adding new
activities. Check out our new sand volleyball court complete with lighting for
playing at night. This summer he initiated a Sunday night of singing around the
campfire. Several churches have had their evening service there. There have
been several retreats and other activities there. A special thanks to Billy Joe
and Suzy for the great job they are doing out there.
Mission Service Corps (MSC) is a team of self-funded
missionaries who serve for four months or more. They provide their own
support in an assigned ministry that supports the evangelism and church
planting efforts of the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and its mission
partners. The placement comes through the Mission Service Corps office of
the North American Mission Board.
The genius of MSC is that it is structured so that every Southern
Baptist can be directly involved. For some, involvement means a
willingness to go and serve; for others, it is becoming ministry partners to
financially support someone else to go. For still others, it means
faithfully praying for those who go and those who support as ministry partners;
and for many, it is a combination of these

ministries - Is
there a nursing home close to you or your church? There is always a need for
someone to come and do music, Bible study or serve as a volunteer chaplain.
Apartment ministries - One of the most abundant mission
fields is apartment ministry. There are needs in many complexes for Bible
study, support groups, children's school tutorial, and many other activities
that can make a difference in a person's life.
After School Bible Club

has training, resources and waiting open doors for churches or individuals to
teach after school Bible classes. This is a great way do children's ministry.
The "clubs" are conducted on school property and provide latchkey
kids with activities that keep them out of trouble as they learn about the
Bible.
Jail or prison
ministries - Many
of our jails and prisons have opportunities for volunteer evangelism. A church or individual could go week days or
week ends to lead a worship service, teach Bible, or specialty classes. These specialty
classes include: anger management, financial management, and many others.
Christian Women's Job
corps - Classes
start in September and mentors are needed for the participants of the
program. Mentors are Christian women who encourage,
guide and befriend. Training and
resources are available. Assignments

Summer
Missions Camp
We had the pleasure of being at two GEAT camps this
summer. Our girls' mission camp was a great success. The boys' mission camp was
also a blessing. Cheryl Landon, Billy Joe Wall, Donald Signor and their staff
did a great job. If your church does not offer these camps to your children
please reconsider. At these camps they will learn to walk closer to God and
have fun doing it. They will also learn about missions, missions
education is not taught in a number of our churches anymore. These camps are
not just for GA and RA but are great for all children.
Our
Camp Ground Ministry
A special thanks to Billy Joe and Suzy Wall (MSC Missionaries) for
the work they are doing at our camp grounds. Billy Joe is our interim camp and
properties manager. If you haven't been to our camp grounds in a while contact
Billy Joe about coming out for a visit, or better yet have a worship service,
women's or men's retreat, Sunday school class party, or deacon/staff retreat
out there. You will be blessed.
